Terms of use
The rules for using OwlCaller.
Last updated 16 August 2026
Using the app
You need a phone number you control to sign in. Verifying a number you do not control is not permitted, and accounts doing it will be closed.
What the app is, and is not
OwlCaller identifies callers from names contributed by the people who use it. Those names are typed by strangers into their own phonebooks. They are frequently abbreviated, occasionally out of date and sometimes simply wrong.
Fair use
You agree not to:
- look numbers up in bulk, scrape the directory, or automate lookups;
- file spam reports that are untrue, or report a number to harass its owner;
- upload phonebook data you have no business uploading, such as a contact list that is not yours;
- use the app to contact, track or identify someone against their wishes;
- attempt to break, overload or circumvent the service's limits.
Lookups are limited per day. Accounts that abuse the service can be closed without notice.
Your contributions
When your phonebook is uploaded, the names in it may be used to identify numbers for other users. You keep whatever rights you have in that data; you give OwlCaller permission to use it for identifying callers.
Removing a number
Any number's owner can have it removed, whether or not they use the app, by writing to support@owlcaller.co. We confirm ownership before removing anything, and we will not restore names for a number that has been removed unless its owner asks.
Availability
The service is provided as it is, without warranty. It may be interrupted, changed or discontinued. Caller identification depends on the phone's permissions and on the operating system, and neither is under our control — iPhone, for example, does not let any app see your call history.
Liability
To the extent the law allows, OwlCaller is not liable for losses arising from reliance on a name, a spam score, or a call that was or was not identified.
Changes
These terms may change; the date above moves when they do.
